Alex

Hello, my name is Alex Davies, I was once a pupil at Gibside School in Whickham. I would like to tell you my story from my time at Gibside to my exciting new career that I have just started.

I must have been maybe 7 or 8 when I started at Gibside School and began my educational journey that would span over a lengthy period. At Gibside I met another Alex, who back then was and remains my best friend.

Sadly, my time at Gibside wasn’t particularly long, this was due to me and my family relocating to Blackburn, Lancashire when I was just 9 years old. Down in Blackburn I continued school and left high school in 2007 and commenced my journey into college life.  I studied Information Technology for 3 years before in 2010, with family relocated to the Middle East to live in the desert. I continued to live until 2014, when I decided to be more independent, I moved back to the UK. Once back in the UK, I was living in Blackburn and ended up going back to college to further study IT. In 2015 I enrolled onto a BSc Honours degree which lasted until 2018.

I owe a lifetime of gratitude to the staff that were at Gibside when I was there, I fondly remember Mrs Jackson, Mrs Horner, Miss Witherington (even though she goes by a different last name now) and Mr Johnson.

I want to say a huge thank you to Miss Witherington, who I got back in touch with after looking on Friends Reunited and in 2009 met with her and had a nostalgic look around my old school and she helped me in finding Alex on Facebook. Me and Alex spoke for a little while and then in 2012 met up and it was like we had never been away from each other, and we still see each other regularly.

If there is one thing, I could say it will be “follow your dreams and never give up on them”
