Sport is an important part of life at Gibside. Our children love to try new sporting activities especially when they get to test their strength of character in events such as climbing and caving like they did in Northumberland.
For more information on sport at Gibside and to see how we are spending our Sport Premium money please click on the links on the left hand side to access the relevant information. You can also visit the Gateshead School Sport Partnership website to see some of the results of competitions we have been involved in over the course of the school year.
Sport and extra curricula activities
At Gibside our children have opportunities to take part in a variety of sports activities in both their PE lessons and also during lunch time clubs. This year we will have a range of clubs running at lunchtimes including fencing, dance, karate, rugby and climbing.
Over the school year the children participate in lots of different sports events both in Gateshead and across the North East. Unfortunately at present we are unsure when competitive sport will be taking place again in Gatesehad but are hopeful it will be before the end of the school year.
We update most of our pictures onto our school Facebook page. To see pictures of our sports clubs in action or the children participating in other sporting events please click on the link below our news feed.
PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities we offer our pupils. You can see how we have planned to spend the money allocated below.
The School Games mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver, gold ad platinum levels of the mark. This year it is the fifth time we have been awarded the Gold mark so we are all extremely pleased!
