Korongoni Unit is attached to a school in Moshi in Tanzania. It has 20 pupils with learning difficulties, and as such is very unusual as most children with special needs in Tanzania don’t go to school. Four of our staff have the wonderful opportunity to go and work in the unit for a week and share teaching methods between both schools.
We intend to support the school by developing resources, and also to support the local economy whilst there by purchasing basic items such as paper and cookery equipment for the school … take a close look at the dough cutters in the photostory !
In developing our own pupils understanding and knowledge of the world, classes have helped to make books to send to our friends in Tanzania, and have enjoyed looking at the book sent to us in return.
To raise money to donate to the school we are holding a Coffee Afternoon on Friday 8th May 2009. We will have a table top sale, a baking stall, raffle for a chocolate and drink hamper and refreshments. All contributions (bottles, chocolates, cakes e.t.c) would really be appreciated and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible there.
